What is a loan?
According to current legislation — specifically Article 827 of the Civil Code of Ukraine — a loan (ссуда) is an agreement under which one party transfers property (for example, a vehicle or premises) to another party for temporary use without charging a fee. The recipient is obligated to return the property after the agreed usage period in the same condition in which it was received.
However, in the modern financial world, the term loan is often used interchangeably with concepts such as microloan or credit, which always involve borrowing money and imply repayment, urgency, and mandatory interest payments for the use of funds.
How does a loan differ from a credit?
For most people, the terms loan and credit seem interchangeable, but in financial terminology they have important differences. For the average Ukrainian consumer, a credit is a more familiar and strictly regulated type of borrowing provided exclusively by banks.
A loan, in everyday understanding, often refers to financial services that may include microloans and fast online borrowing without rejection provided by microfinance and other non-bank institutions.
The process of applying for a loan is usually simpler than applying for a bank credit, because MFOs use automated scoring systems. This allows borrowers to receive funds on their card almost without rejection and with minimal processing time. This makes a loan particularly convenient for people facing urgent and unexpected expenses.
For what terms can a loan be taken?
In most cases, loans are issued for short or medium periods — from several days to several months. The procedure is extremely simple and typically does not require a large document package (often only a passport and tax ID).
To take out a loan through Portmone:
- Open the “Loans” category and select “Apply for a loan”.
- Choose an MFO that meets your needs and offers the best borrowing conditions, then click “Apply”.
- Wait for the system to open the official website of the credit organization, where you must register and/or log in to your personal account if you have used their services before.
- Fill out the form, specify the loan parameters, and enter your card details (Visa, MC, and Prostir cards issued by Ukrainian banks are supported). Complete the card verification process.
- After approval, sign the contract and receive the money on your card.
Please note that the loan can be issued only to a card belonging to the borrower (for example, a VISA card from PrivatBank). Otherwise, the loan request will be rejected.
What is the maximum loan amount available online?
The maximum amount a borrower can receive depends on several factors, including income level, number of active online loans, credit history, internal MFO policies, and more.
Usually, the first loan for a new client is smaller — typically 5,000–10,000 UAH. For repeat borrowers, the amount can increase to 50,000 UAH or more. This is because a positive repayment history increases trust and reduces the lender’s risk.
Using the Portmone service, you can quickly find and apply not only for a fast loan to a card, but also for other online credit products (for example, a payday loan or a loan for pensioners). You can be confident in the security of your personal data and the integrity of lenders, as all MFOs listed on our platform comply with NBU Regulation No. 153 and operate under Ukrainian law, including the Law “On Consumer Lending”.
Moreover, Portmone allows you to pay for thousands of different services, ensuring maximum security and high-speed payment processing.
