Who issues microloans?
Over the past few years, microcredit has become one of the most popular short-term financing tools among Ukrainians. Every month, Ukrainians take out more than 730,000 microloans, and in the first half of 2025 alone, 4.39 million contracts were issued — 8% more than during the same period of the previous year.
Microloans are issued by microfinance organizations (MFOs), which specialize in providing small amounts of money for short periods (usually up to 30 days). Unlike banks, which impose strict requirements regarding income and credit history, MFOs are more flexible and willing to issue loans almost without rejection. To apply, a borrower typically needs only:
• a passport or ID card
• a taxpayer identification number
• a mobile phone
• a bank card issued by any Ukrainian bank (Mastercard, VISA, or Prostir)
To avoid worsening your financial situation and to protect yourself from unreliable lenders, it is important to borrow only from reputable MFOs that comply with NBU Regulation No. 153 and operate under the Law “On Consumer Lending”. Only such lenders are listed on Portmone. You simply choose the most suitable MFO, submit your loan application, and receive funds on your card. This ensures a secure and fully transparent transaction.
What loan amounts are available through microcredit?
Most microcredit organizations issue loans ranging from 500 to 30,000 UAH. It is important to note that the maximum amount for first-time borrowers usually does not exceed 7,000–10,000 UAH. However, such loans may be issued at 0.01%, meaning they are almost free.
Returning clients who have successfully repaid previous loans may qualify for significantly larger amounts — up to 50,000 UAH or more.
Can you get a microloan with a bad credit history?
A negative credit history is one of the most common reasons for rejection — especially in banks. But microfinance organizations are more loyal and allow borrowers to receive online microloans even with low credit scores or problematic credit histories.
This is because MFOs use flexible and lenient scoring models, focusing more on current financial behavior and repayment ability. For example, employment type usually does not matter — the key factors are income stability and the borrower’s ability to service the loan.
How to get a microloan online?
The process of applying for an online microloan through Portmone consists of just a few steps:
- Open the “Loans” section and select “Apply for a loan”.
- Review the list of available MFOs and choose the one that best matches your loan requirements. Click “Apply”.
- Wait for the system to open the MFO’s official website, where you must register or log in if you already have an account.
- Specify the microloan parameters, fill out the application form, and provide and verify the card used to receive funds (for example, a Visa card from Ukrgasbank). Submit the application for review.
- If approved, sign the credit agreement and receive the funds on your card.
The entire process takes no more than 15–20 minutes for first-time borrowers and as little as 5 minutes for returning users.
Using the same approach, Portmone users can also access other online credit services — such as loans for military personnel or loans via Diia. The service also allows you to top up your mobile phone, pay utility bills, taxes, fines, transportation cards, and thousands of other services in just a few clicks. You can always count on high transaction speed, data security, and 24/7 support if any issues arise.
